Tahini Beet Root Puree and other weird things that are actually good…
Remember when I said that when I am not eating whatever I want, I try to eat “clean” and follow a Whole 30 approach? Well, that is still true. But it has become very hard to get back to eating clean when you eat french fries all weekend. The good news is my kids are back in school and I have more time to actually plan a meal, cook and grocery shop. The bad news is I still don’t plan a meal, cook or grocery shop. I have followed ‘Whole30 Recipes’ on Instagram for a while. They have different people each week sharing recipes- none of which I have ever made. One week they had a gal from Model Meals. Model Meals was started by a girl who was a model in NYC (you can see why I was intrigued) who started a Whole 30 food delivery service in NYC, then moved it to SoCal and just started delivering in Northern California. I decided to be one of the first Northern California customers!
I am not getting paid or free food for this I swear but I am hooked!! Model Meals is the best. Here is what I think so far.
I started with a Sunday delivery (vs. Wednesday) of 3 meals. I figure by Thursday it is pointless so Sunday is best for me to get food delivered since I feel so bad about my eating by Sunday night and am motivated to pull things together on Monday.
The first meal I tried was the most basic and normal sounding on the menu: Sweet Potato Toast with House Made Nut Butter and Jam. Let me tell you that A. I would order their nut butter and jam (just raspberry, lemon, date) by the gallon and B. while I don’t really buy the “sub sweet potato for any sandwich bread” I am totally sold on the PB&J on a sweet potato. This would be easy to make at home and a perfect breakfast! Having said that, I probably wouldn’t pay for this meal again because I liked it so much I want to make it myself. I did just order a French Dip “sandwich” for next week’s meals and yes, it comes on a sweet potato.
Some other favorites that I will definitely re-order are Coconut Curry Chicken Meatballs + Sweet Potato Mash, Eggplant Marinara + Sautéed Greens with Cashew Cream (Cashew Cream is the BOMB), Cauliflower Falafel + Tahini Beet Root Puree, and Lamb Burger + Cauliflower Tabbouleh.

Sweet & Sour Pork
The only thing I would not recommend is Parsnip Grits. Whatever on earth a parsnip is, it’s gross.
God forbid I drive 1 mile to my local Pressed Juicery or the Trader Joes, but I also round up my order with a Pressed Juice and RX bar. I guess I like things delivered. End of story.
