Booties are one of those fashion trends that have boggled my mind for years. Of course I wear them, everyone does, but WHY? In my opinion, they are really hard to pull off and honestly, don’t look all that great on most people, including myself. My biggest problem with booties is always what to do with my pants! Tuck them in, roll them, wear leggings, etc. There never seems to be a good answer.
Now don’t get me wrong, if someone nails the bootie look my jaw drops. Not only do they look amazing, they did it with something that can be so difficult! Luckily with the new raw hem ankle trend (especially the high to low ones) and a huge variety of booties hitting the scene, I think we are going to have a ton of new alternatives this fall. People are going to be rocking those booties in a whole new way and (hopefully) they will finally make sense!
If I had the choice, old school me would choose to go back to traditional height boots but since the fashion gods are in control here on we go, searching for the perfect pair of booties. Here are my picks and why:
Lucky
I’ve always been a huge fan of Lucky’s booties. They are super comfortable, have a practical design (mine have double zips) and come in great colors. Here are my favorite, casual, pair:
Rag and Bone
I’ve always been a fan of the Rag & Bone booties. They are way more than I would usually spend on shoes but obviously I saw them on a celebrity one day, had to have them and fell in love! I now own 2 pairs. The classic black leather that seem to go with everything (I usually wear these with skirts/dresses) and the more casual taupe suede which I can’t wait to wear with raw hem denim pants and an oversized sweater this fall.
These are the classics I’ve had for years. ($495)
The fringe really got me on these – they are SO cute! ($495)
Hinge
One of the most publicized booties from the Nordstrom anniversary sale were these Hinge suede booties. Of course I took the bait and bought myself a pair but not because everyone else was wearing them. I bought them for the heel. That perfectly sized, chunky heel. Short but still a little something something. If Fall ever gets here, I feel like I’m going to wear these every day!
That block heel makes me swoon! ($120)
Born
Born boots are honestly the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever owned. They last forever and were my shoe of choice in NYC when I knew I’d be walking miles and miles. They don’t have my adored pair in stock right now but these look pretty great too.
The belt wrap makes these a little different in a very cute way! ($140)
