I’m an accountant, there I said it. I hope you are shocked. I LOVE when people are shocked when they find out I’m an accountant! It makes me feel like I’m the opposite of all those silly stereotypes which I’ve tried so hard to defy. Deep down though, I’m totally just a huge nerd who loves a good calculator.
(Side note: My niece and nephew call me “Gie Gie” (the part of Maggie they could say as toddlers) so naturally, my brother-in-law turned that into “Geeky” which is now my family nickname. Isn’t family special? HA!)
Well, I do keep this in my wallet, just in case of emergencies😊
A common reaction when one finds out an accountant has decided to jump into blogging is “why?”. The real answer – I got laryngitis and couldn’t leave the house for almost a week so I found something I could do without a voice. True story. But I think deep down this has always been something I’ve wanted to pursue. Since I can remember, I’ve enjoyed discussing the specifics of an outfit, beauty trend or nail color for an unhealthy amount of time. When I was 25, I even moved to New York City to work at Revlon in their financial reporting group hoping it would satisfy both my love of numbers and fashion trends. Let’s just say it did not fulfill all of my dreams (I really think I missed my calling as a buyer) but it landed me in NYC which is right where I was supposed to be. Soaking in all of that fashion fulfilled me!
I miss that here in the suburbs of California and turned to bloggers to stay connected to my old city life. As time went on, I realized I enjoyed seeing both what they are wearing, products they are promoting, etc. but I also really love getting to know more about their personal lives and the positivity many of them bring to mundane topics or tasks. These people are so much more than the pictures they post and that really captivates me. Everyone has a story to tell and through blogging, I’ve decided to share mine.
