New Priority #1 (aka adventure crusher – jk Gracie (sort of)) Since I moved to California, a lot has happened. Aside from the whole transition associated with leaving the big city to move to the burbs - I bought a house (see below), for the first time in years had family close by to spend time with, got a puppy (see above), did 2 major house renovations and joined a tennis team. It’s all good stuff but every now and then I stop, look back and realize my life took a total 180 the second I left ... View the Post
The Name Game
Many of you have asked me why I chose the name “Pops of Purple” for the blog. To be honest, I wish I had a really great story behind the name or at the very least thought fast enough on my feet to make one up when asked. But atlas, I have neither. Nerd Alert
Nerd Alert I’m an accountant, there I said it. I hope you are shocked. I LOVE when people are shocked when they find out I’m an accountant! It makes me feel like I’m the opposite of all those silly stereotypes which I’ve tried so hard to defy. Deep down though, I’m totally just a huge nerd who loves a good calculator. (Side note: My niece and nephew call me “Gie Gie” (the part of Maggie they could say as toddlers) so naturally, my brother-in-law turned that into “Geeky” which is now my ... View the Post
